Family Reunion Part 2--"The Adventure"

We stayed at my Uncle's cattle ranch, just like we did 2 years ago. It really is my boys' dream come true. In fact, they have proclaimed a toss up with Disneyland when it comes to Most Fun Vacations. I believe pictures will best document our fun time.

Their favorite part was going on the mother of all treasure hunts that my Dad worked so hard to put together. They called it "The Adventure." Seth, who is still on his Legolas kick, came prepared with a pillowcase full of supplies. In it he had his trusty bow and arrow, walking stick, sling shot, compass, flashlight, and let us not forget "The Pocket: Dangerous Book for Boys." He was ready for ANYTHING.
Now I'm not going to be able to remember everything that this adventure entailed, but it did include the following:
A strategically placed first clue and map.

Counting the knots on a rope to locate the right stick in the fish pond that they were to pull on to find the next clue at the end of the string. (Do you see how involved and exciting this was?)

Using a compass (tricky business) to find the right spot to dig with the acquired spoons from the fish pond.

Putting together a Diego puzzle to read the secret message written thereon.

Tromping all over the place to get from one clue to the next (The Adventure took the better part of the morning.)

Of course half way through they needed some nourishment for this serious business. Some magic potion did just the trick. Seth claimed to be able to feel its strengthening powers working almost immediately.

Picking up much needed weapons along the way.

Using newly acquired sling shot to attempt to pop balloons for the next clue. This, my friends, was Legolas's shining moment. The sling shots just did not have enough fire power, and luckily Legolas came prepared. He whipped out his bow and arrow and went to town on those balloons. This was his moment in time to put all of his training to the test. He was in Hog Heaven.

And at the end of their quest they were rewarded with the most sought after toy.... a pop gun. It was an adventure to remember. Thanks, Dad!

Now that was a treasure hunt. What a fun idea and who knew Legolas skills could get so much use?
