Fun Times In Cali.

We had a great time in California with Sam's parents!! Before I caught up with everyone the boys had so much fun visiting Fairytale Town, chowing on a giant ice cream sundae at Fenton's, and hiking until they were ready to drop. Abram felt sorry for me that I had to miss out on all that fun.

Mom had planned a fun little getaway to Santa Cruz as a surprise to Sam. When they picked me up from the airport, we headed on down for a few days. Our hotel was "100 steps" from the beach, and the boys had SO MUCH FUN at the beach running around, throwing seaweed into the waves, looking for treasures, playing in the sand, and running away from the waves. We also were lucky enough to see some dolphins and sea lions. It was amazing.

Mom had previously scouted out a Big Foot museum that we all thought Sam would get a kick out of. Much to our dismay it was closed, but we got some fun pictures by it anyway.

We then headed to an INCREDIBLE redwoods state park. We followed a little trail and saw some amazing trees. The first picture is of me and the boys standing in front of a 270 foot tall redwood. The second picture is of me standing INSIDE one. A surveyor back in the 1800's came upon this tree and sought shelter inside. There is so much room inside. They actually laid down, at one point, some hardwood floor, put a bed inside, and rented it out to honeymooners. You can see a "shelf" carved into the tree behind me. The third picture is a slice of a tree that is over 2000 years old. So cool.

Afterword we found a fun park to picnic at. They had the neatest covered bridge that is supposedly the biggest/tallest one in the country and has been used in movies.

To top off our trip, we got the remnants of a typhoon in Japan. We left Santa Cruz the day it hit and found out later that it got 8 inches of rain. Abram, the weather junkie, was in hog heaven to be in the middle of it. Fun, fun times. Thank you, mom and dad, for everything!!

Who knew Seeweed could be so much fun!? I think Eden could have watched the video all day, and who could blame her, it was way cute!

WHAT FUN!! We've been talking about going to see the redwoods for about a year. We still probably won't go until 2011, Steve refuses to camp with me until Josh is older. He thinks I'd go sort of crazy or something, geesh. :) Anyway, I'm happy you had such a great time!!
